What's a cat sanctuary?
A permanent home for cats that are hard to place: older cats, shy cats, and cats living with conditions like FIV. Most stay for life. There's no café, but you can book a visit and spend time with them.

Not a café: a sanctuary run by the Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS), a Richmond animal charity. It's a lifelong home for cats that are hard to place, such as older or shy cats and cats living with FIV. Visits are by timed ticket on weekend afternoons.

Where are the cat cafés in Metro Vancouver?
Catfé (Vancouver), Catoro Cafe (Vancouver) and PETPLS Cat Cafe (Richmond). We haven't found any elsewhere in the region yet.
Do I need to book?
All of them recommend booking ahead. Visits are timed sessions.
Can I adopt one of the cats?
Yes: at Catfé every cat is up for adoption and at PETPLS Cat Cafe some cats are. Ask the café how it works; a partner rescue usually handles the adoption.
Can kids come?
Yes, over a minimum age: Catfé, Catoro Cafe and PETPLS Cat Cafe ask for 5 and up. Check when you book.
What is a cat sanctuary?
A permanent home for cats that are hard to place, rather than a café. RAPS Cat Sanctuary in Richmond is run by the Regional Animal Protection Society (RAPS), a local animal charity; most of its cats live there for good, and visitors can book a timed visit on weekend afternoons.
Can I bring my dog?
